Discover FLOWGEN
This section dives into the project’s vision, goals, and impact, showing how young changemakers across Europe
are shaping the future of water justice and the blue economy.

What is FLOWGEN?
FLOWGEN is an Erasmus+ funded youth project, that empowers young people to take the lead in Europe’s blue economy and water justice movement. The project unites organisations from Slovenia, Greece, Hungary & Spain, to develop innovative educational tools, youth-led initiatives, and micro-credentials that strengthen skills in sustainability, digital innovation, and entrepreneurship. FLOWGEN turns knowledge into action — equipping youth to become the next generation of changemakers shaping resilient, inclusive, and water-secure communities across Europe.
Mission & Vision
Our mission is simple yet ambitious: to empower young people to become catalysts for sustainable change in water-dependent regions. FLOWGEN envisions a Europe where youth lead innovation, communities thrive through equitable access to water, and education becomes the driving force of resilience. By blending creativity, science, and civic engagement, the project aims to transform how young people understand and act upon environmental challenges. Through collaboration, skill-building, and advocacy, FLOWGEN seeks to ensure that the future of water and the future of youth flow together — equitable, innovative, and inspired.

Why Water Justice Matters
Water is not just a resource — it’s a right, a lifeline, and a shared global responsibility. Yet, millions face growing water insecurity due to climate change, pollution, and inequality. Water justice ensures that everyone, especially the most vulnerable, has fair access to clean water and the power to protect it. FLOWGEN places water justice at the heart of its mission, helping young people understand the links between ecology, economy, and equity. By turning awareness into action, FLOWGEN equips youth to become advocates and innovators for a fairer, greener, and more sustainable future.
Empowering Youth Through Innovation
FLOWGEN believes that innovation begins with empowerment. By combining non-formal education, creative thinking, and entrepreneurship, the project provides young people with the tools to design real solutions for real challenges. From digital learning to hands-on experimentation, FLOWGEN encourages youth to explore ideas that bridge technology, sustainability, and community impact. Through workshops, mentorship, and micro-credentials, young participants gain the skills and confidence to drive change within their local and international contexts — transforming themselves from learners into leaders of Europe’s blue and green transitions.

Objectives & Expected Impact
FLOWGEN aims to:
- Equip youth with green, digital, and entrepreneurial skills for the blue economy.
- Promote inclusive and equitable education on water justice and sustainability.
- Foster cross-border collaboration and peer learning across Europe.
- Develop a methodology and micro-credential system that recognises youth skills globally.

The project’s impact will ripple across communities, strengthening youth participation in environmental action and enhancing employability in emerging green sectors. Ultimately, FLOWGEN strives to build a generation of informed, capable young leaders ready to create lasting change.
How FLOWGEN Works
FLOWGEN brings together a consortium of expert organisations working in youth education, innovation, and sustainability. Through research, co-creation, training, and community action, the project designs learning experiences that are inclusive, hands-on, and adaptable across different European contexts. Activities include focus groups, local pilot projects, and transnational exchanges that connect youth and educators. The project’s digital aspect will produce resources, toolkits, and micro-credentials, ensuring that FLOWGEN’s learning model can be implemented anywhere. By combining science, creativity, and civic engagement, FLOWGEN turns collaboration into a force for systemic change.
